Over the past few years, the word "career" has gone through a lot of changes for me. I originally went to school to be an engineer. I love order, design, and statistics. I'm the kind of guy that needs charts, diagrams, and spreadsheets before I make major decisions. After working for a year as a Mechanical Engineer I made the jump into full-time photography. Though the "jump" was not my choice it is a rather funny story that if I told you here you'd think I was kidding.
After 5 minutes of meeting me you'll find that I immerse myself in everything that I do. My photographs are the result of left brain and right brain fusion. I love order, patterns, and the mechanics of light that go into each photo because they change with every situation. At the same time, I love the right-brained creativity and out of the box thinking that can lead to phrases like, "Now, this may sound a little unorthodox but...".
In the past I've been bad with names so I will commonly nick-name people in the wedding party. You might get a nick-name like Junebug, Blackbeard, Rico Suave, or, "girl who forgot my starbucks :-)". I even nick-name the poses. It makes things easy and relatable for me. I love being able to go up to a group of bridesmaids and say that I want them to do what Tyra Banks would do and use "Smeyes" or that I want them to walk towards me "Sex and the City" style... you know where you're walking and laughing like best friends.
My goal is to be so fun and relatable that we become Facebook friends and my work to be so awesome and beautiful that you tell all your Facebook friends about me!
When I'm not behind the computer or the camera I love running, biking, canoeing, and entrepreneur(ing). Thanks for checking out what I love to do!
