Mike Hohnholz’s new album is set to arrive in Mid-October of 2010 and we are all pretty pumped since the release of his last album, This Beautiful Place in 2006. We have all heard Mike… either at Willamette Christian Church, Beaverton Foursquare, Christ the King, or on the Tuesday night indoor soccer field. This shoot was a rather lengthy one… as we drove out past The Dalles, OR searching for a wide open field. We later traveled back into town where we ran into “Dave” the dude working on his Harley Davison Motorcycle. It was there where I yet again found out that the parking lot we were in was private property. He was totally cool though and let us shoot there (later showing us his Harley). My favorite shots though were at the very end using a sort of cliche brick wall and one light with a softbox. I’ve been really enjoying my Vagabond II powerpacks and getting a lot of use out of them recently.
Here are a few from the shoot:

It’s 3:45 in the morning… Knock… Knock… I show up to do pictures at 3:45am! Matt and Tiffany definitely took the record for earliest wedding. Well, the wedding was at 11:00am at Lake Merwin, a great little spot that I’ve never been before. It was cool to be able to shoot in a new spot. Anyways, the bride was still sleeping when I showed up and there was about 10 seconds of awkwardness. But that was the only awkwardness the whole time! Even when the MOB asked me to turn around and check out my booty (apparently, my pants have a rather interesting back buckle). After passing out a few new DMP swag hats and tons of laughs the wedding day went awesome! Everything was a bit late (which is normal) but everything turned out great. Best compliment I received all day was from JR who said that he wished one of his friends was getting married so he could do another wedding with me. And for sure the feelings were reciprocated. I had so much fun at this wedding (despite its early timing). You can even see me dancing in a few of these shots.
Have a look:

As you can see I haven’t posted here in quite some time. This is my busiest wedding season and I’m working on getting photos out soon. Here goes my attempt at trying to put more of what I’m doing on the internet.
When Toni and Matt told me that they were gunna have 4 kegs and that I should bring a tent, my girlfriend and a sleeping bag I knew this wedding was going to be a recipe for awesomeness. Allison and I ran into some issues getting there, resulting in me finally deciding to kick the bucket on my 1996 Honda Civic and pick up a Scion xB (I’ll post pix later). We arrived the night before, set up camp, and stayed for two nights. The wedding day was quite a unique one for me. The wedding ceremony was shorter than normal which packed a whole lot of time for partying at the reception. It was clear from the get-go that Toni and Matt both just wanted their guests to have a great time and wanted their pictures to reflect that. I went more along the route of an editorial/photojournalistic wedding. Allison and I had gobs of fun and I hope I get another camping wedding soon!
Enjoy a peak!

One of the most awesome things for me is when I get to work with clients more than once. Carmen’s mom, Shellynda is super nice and has sent me a lot of work recently. As far as this shoot I’ve been playing around more with my flash. It’s starting to become attached at my hip. My fav shots in this setting are the shots of Carmen in the wheat field at sunset. It looks totally epic and I think we both had a total blast doing this.

The World Concern “Free Them” 5k Run was held at the CRISTA campus in Shoreline/Seattle today (May 1st). The “Free Them” run was started to raise money to help put an end to human trafficking… such a wretched thing! If ever there was a cause to fight for it is human trafficking. Just watch the movie “Taken” with Liam Neeson and it will get you fired up about the issue. Ending human trafficking is a cause everyone can and should stand behind – speaking plainly. I originally was just going to take photos of my old college roomie, Joseph Lee, but when he took me on a tour of World Concern and I got to meet all of his coworkers they seemed like they would be interested in photos of the event. Of course I was obliged for such an awesome cause (if you haven’t caught my drift yet) so I woke up quite early to snap the following shots:
Oh and by the way… I don’t think I’ve mentioned it here but I’m living in Seattle officially now (have been for about a month). I’m living with my OTHER old roommate, David Chen. I’m shooting his wedding later this summer in exchange for rent at his place. It’s a great deal for both of us, especially because I’m now only 15 minutes away from Allison, who ironically also works at CRISTA but in the senior living area. She loves the people there and I’m beginning to see why. You can see from the pictures this is quite a fun bunch. ‘nJoy
ONE more thing… You can feel free view / download / buy all of the other pictures I took HERE (http://www.zenfolio.com/onephotonerd/p823929524/) All I ask is that you spread the word that there is a cool new photographer in town. By the way… the cool new photographer is me.
